MAYOR’S COMMITTEE ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Purpose: To advise the Mayor on all matters related to persons with
disabilities. As its primary goal, the committee shall review and
recommend action and providing guidelines to improve the
quality of life for people of the county with disabilities.

Authority: Hawaii County Charter, Section 4-4
Appointment: Mayor, no confirmation required. Members are co-terminus with
the Mayor.
Full Membership: No specific number.
Specific Representation: None required.
Requirements: None.
Meetings: Minimum six per year.
Financial Disclosure: Not required.
Reappointment: Per Mayor’s discretion.
Qualities: Respected by the community as being community-minded and
oriented. Able to focus on the community needs as a whole
without catering to special or self-interest.
