Meeting — May 26, 2015 Keaau Community Center

MINUTES
Call to Order: 5:00 p.m.
Minutes approved as read (April 28, 2015).
Old Business:
• Update on Ad hoc Committee on Connectivity and Emergency Response
initiated by Gregor Ilagan
Ilagan continues to work on draft for committee and plans to introduce to
Council at July's meeting
Need to schedule meetings with the following:
• Representative San Buenaventura
• Representative Onishi
• Senator Ruderman
• Representative Gabbard
• Senator Schatz
• Discussion of Reprioritizing of Connectivity Locations Report including
input from May 2014 -April 2015. PREP Fair, testimonies from PCDP,
emails, letters, input during CERS meetings
New Business:
Discussion of Highway 11 Closure Concerns — May 11, 2015 as follows:
tree fell across the road at the 16 mile marker, detour produced but bus
went off road thus blocking detour, after 2 hours 1 -lane opened onto
Highway 11. Emphasized need for connecting roads between Volcano
and Keaau throughout subdivisions.
Open Discussion on Topics of Concern to CERS members and others in
attendance: Reemphasized need to look at successful federal models, e.g.
Patsy Mink's to make necessary road connections.
