HomeMy WebLinkAboutTanya Lee.pdfName of agency/organization: Contact person/phone/email: Tanya Lee Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. 1. In your experience, how prevalent is the issue of squatting and adverse possession? i know it has been going on for months. I was first aware of it during the lava crisis. Maybe having people vacate left opportunities for squatters. 2. In what communities and districts do squatting and adverse possession appear most prominent? no idea, eSceptic that it's apparent in Leilani. 3. When you receive notice or a complaint about these situations, what is your normal course of action? It's just a verbal complaint from another Leilani resident. I do nothing. Not clear what could be done. 4. What kinds of complications have arisen in the past that have prevented a successful resolution of the situation? no clue I suspect people who live near may be afraid if what the squatters could do if grief was called down upon them. Any resolution would have to require them to be moved out. 5. For those situations that have been successfully resolved, please describe what happened. 6. What happens when you contact or try to contact the owner of record? I'm now working with real estate and wouldn't mind helping by doing the contacting. This might even be a sale opportunity. 7. What solutions would you recommend? Legislation requiring a hearing and forced eviction if ownership could not be proven. 8. Are there any other comments you would like to make? having non-owner or renters in a house leaves temptation for stealing from other houses when people aren't home.
