We are transmitting the enclosed "Building in Puna" brochure for your consideration and
approval for distribution. Chapter 2 of the Puna Community Development Plan (Malama I Ka
`Aina) states the importance of caring for our `aina. This chapter talks about the need to protect
and preserve historic, cultural, and scenic resources in addition to protecting and preserving our
native forests and geological features.
Year after year, Puna has seen widespread property development. It is evident that much of this
development happens by ripping /grading properties extensively and carelessly and, in some
cases, without the proper permits. The Puna CDP Action Committee feels that the lack of
available information and knowledge exacerbates the problem.
The Puna CDP Action Committee respectfully requests your consideration and approval to
distribute the enclosed "Building in Puna" brochure.
