Madie Greene, Patti Pinto, Larry Brown, Jon Olson, Oshi Simsarian, Elmer Solis, Alan Lakritz Wastewater Treatment Study: Patti reports that progress on this effort is still in the toilet. After discussion we decided to write to Bobby Jean Leithead -Todd immediately to request that she undertake the wastewater treatment study, the funding has been secured and the need is critical. Attachments to the letter will be a copy of the EPA fines Pahoa business article and a copy of the Hawaii County budget with the wastewater treatment study CIP included. Parking Lots and Restrooms: Elmer reports he is waiting for a call back. New appraisals are necessary from both Sal and the County. Elmer will speak with Hamana Ventura, the County purchasing agent to re- energize the process and also to inquire about securing additional small lots throughout the Village either through lease or purchase to allow for additional parking. Post Office Road Widening and Extension: Jon reports that he spoke with Greggor regarding a County Council resolution to adopt the leg of Post Office Road between Pahoa Village road and Highway 130 and Greggor has declined. Elmer will speak with him again. Patti will speak with Ben Ishii of DPW about what is required for the county to widen and provide safer pedestrian passage on this section. Perhaps we need only submit a CIP for the project. We also need to ascertain whether or not the Post Office Road Extension project is part of Phase I of the Pahoa Park, if it is not, determine what is our next step in getting this project underway? Lava Viewing and Education Center: Mark reports that the work is progressing to re -open Apa'a and Cemetary Roads. The County has agreed to allow the continued use of the wide shoulders on the road. We need to find staffing and funding for the rest of the project. Design Review Committee: Mark reports that Jon McElveney is on board to Chair the Committee, additional members are Mariano Delgado, Mark Hinshaw, Elmer Solis.
