Meeting Notes
September 2, 2015 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm)
Participants: Joe Carvalho, Marlene Ching, Margot McFedries, Keith Wallis, Beth Robinson,
Keoni Mackillop, Aric Arakaki, Ted Matsuda.
❖ Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave)
➢ Joe will check with Eldridge Naboa if the benchmark is still there.
❖ Hapu'u — Kapanaia
➢ Pacific Plains is willing to put up security fences or markings for Kapalama Heiau
■ We should get in touch with Misty Kai if they are willing to participate in security
fences or markings for the Heiau.
■ If both parties are willing to secure the Heiau, we should contact Ralph on how to
proceed
➢ Campers are still at the Heiau site.
■ We should contact Misty Kai & Pacific Plains to address the camping and desecration
of the Heiau area.

➢ A group of community members did a walk thru today (9/2/2015) with the landowners
association, county planning department, and NPS Ala Kaha Kai personnel.
■ The trail is not being maintained & is eroding.
o The county said not to touch the trail until the issues of two lots are resolved.
These lots have deep gullies that the trail cannot traverse without entering another
lot or building a bridge.
■ The county planning department will do a draft of the trail requirements and will take
public comments after the draft.
o There were concerns on burial sites.
