DISCUSSION
Ms. Siracusa noted that the rules that are before them are what were agreed upon at previous
PONC meetings with Corporation Counsel and everything is in order. Mr. Meyers asked if their
responsibilities will start in January. Ms. Kelepolo replied that if the rules are approved today,
Ms. Bell will sign and it will then be forwarded to Corporation Counsel, Mayor and County
Clerk’s office for signature. Once the rules are executed and filed in the Lt. Governor’s office,
PONC will be able to take on the additional duties. Mr. Meyers asked how many non-profits
applied for stewardship grants. Ms. Kelepolo replied one. Mr. Meyers asked what was the stall
or delay in the process. Ms. Castillo Hall replied that there were about 4-5 applicants but only
one was awarded for the Waipi‘o Lookout property since the other applicants did not follow
through with the application process correctly. The application that PONC will be reviewing is
for the same applicant that was approved at Council recently from the first round of applications.
Mr. Ventura clarified that PONC will also be accepting stewardship grant applications year-
round and it will give non-profits the flexibility to turn in applications at any time.
Ms. Siracusa asked if Parks & Recreation has forms or guidelines for the stewardship grants.
Ms. Kelepolo replied that there are no guidelines but there is an application form and she will
have that sent out with the packet.
