<br /> <br />BANYAN DRIVE HAWAI‘I REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />June 22, 2016 <br /> <br />The Banyan Drive Hawai‘i Redevelopment Agency met in the County of Hawai‘i, Office of <br />Human Resources, 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 2, Hilo Hawai‘i, with Chairman Brian DeLima <br />presiding. <br /> <br />AGENCY MEMBERS PRESENT: Mary Begier, Brian DeLima, Elmer Gorospe, Barry <br />Taniguchi, and Sigmund Zane. <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Duane Kanuha (Planning Director), Amy Self (Deputy Corporation <br />Counsel), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Maija Jackson (Staff Planner), Christian <br />Kay (Staff Planner), and Kim Tanaka (Secretary). <br /> <br />A quorum was present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman DeLima at 10:01a.m. At <br />this time the Chair directed the Agency to the first order of business. <br /> <br />BUSINESS OF COMMISSION <br />1. Orientation, review and discussion of a draft conceptual plan for the redevelopment of the <br />Banyan Drive area. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />There were eight people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br /> DELIMA: We have one statement from the public. Mr. Combs. <br /> <br /> COMBS: Yes. <br /> <br /> DELIMA: Well Michael, we have a small group today, so why don’t you introduce <br />yourself and then we’ll go right around the room so you know who’s here. <br /> <br /> COMBS: I’m Mike Combs. I’m a business consultant, a property owner, or was a <br />property owner, at 101 Banyan Drive. District of Hawai‘i, DBA Ocean Front 121. <br />Trying to reposition to make it an upscale condominium hotel project. <br /> <br />Chairman DeLima requested that introductions of all meeting attendees be made at this time. <br />Introductions were made. <br /> <br /> DELIMA: Okay Michael, you’re on. <br /> <br /> COMBS: Okay. You see my written testimony, and I purchased the property at Banyan <br />Drive, 121 Banyan Drive, in 2003. So I was concerned about your redevelopment plan.
