The meeting was chaired by Laura Tobosa. MEMBERS PRESENT: Laura Tobosa, Chair; Pauline Aughe, Vice Chair; Susan Shirachi, Sam Nagasawa, Pamela Punihaole. ABSENT: Joshua Pratt (Excused). Richard Dinges (Excused) OTHERS PRESENT AND GUESTS: Teri Spinola-Campbell, ADA Coordinator; Alisa Mitchener Parks & Recreation, Ilihia Gionson, Kauila Haumea, Gail Yoshishige, Dr. Kimo Alameda CALL TO ORDER Laura Tobosa called the meeting to order at 10:09 a.m. Certificate Presentation to Warren Lee Teri Spinola-Campbell shared some accomplishments done by Warren Lee. Dr. Kimo Alameda also shared kind words of appreciation on everything that Warren Lee has done to help the community. Ilihia Gionson presented a certificate to Warren Lee on behalf of the people of the County of Hawaii, and the Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities. Warren Lee shared a few words. Laura Tobosa asked if everyone could please introduce themselves. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC (Agenda Items) No Statements APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE August 17, 2016 MEETING Susan Shirachi moves to approve meeting minutes Sam Nagasawa seconds. Everyone is in favor of approving minutes. Minutes approved. Unfinished Business L. Tobosa asked the committee if there are any suggestions on Richard Dinges letter to the mayor. Pauline Aughe suggested to change "Handi-Van routes to Paratransit routes" because Handi-van is supposed to move to Oahu. P. Aughe made a motion to approve the letter. S. Nagasawa seconds. Motion passes. Report on the Recreation Ad Hoc Committee. S. Nagasawa read her report (See attachment) and asked if everyone could take a moment of silence to remember James Souza who was a previous board member. L. Tobosa also mentioned Buddy Kamoku also passed away. REPORT OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'l EQUAL OPPORTUNITY OFFICER AND ADA COORDINATOR, TERI SPINOLA-CAMPBELL Teri Spinola-Campbell read her report (See attachment) REPORT FROM COUNTY OF HAWAII RECREATION SPECIALIST, ALISA MITCHENER Alisa Mitchener read her report (See attachment) 2 ANNOUNCEMENTS A Mitchener mentioned there will be a workshop on clarification of service animals taking place on November 10, 2016 (See attachment) S. Nagasawa also made an announcement that Aloha Independent now has a Facebook page for the agency. P. Aughe made an announcement that Oct 6th is the East Hawaii Legislative Forum at Aunty Sally's from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Pam Punihaole mentioned that the White Cane Walk in West Hawaii is on Oct 14th at 10:15 am. Meet at Hale Halawai, walk north on Alii Dr at 10:30 and back. NEXT MEETING Kalen Koga mentioned that the room is reserved for October 19, 2016. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned 11:13 am.
