HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.2.16 Power Point PresentationSteering Committee Review of Community Input & Consideration of Revisions to the Draft CDP Steering Committee Meeting November 2, 2016 HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Purpose & Scope of the CDP Implement the broad goals within the General Plan on a regional basis [and] translate the broad General Plan statements to specific actions Serve as the forum for community input into... coordinating the delivery of government services to the community Direct land use, zoning, growth, development, and design Plan for watersheds and other natural features Direct public improvements, including infrastructure, public facilities, transportation, drainage, and recreation HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Steering Committee Roles &Responsibilities ■ Help the County tailor the planning process to the unique characteristics of Hamakua and its stakeholders ■ Promote the planning process within the community to maximize participation while maintaining an objective, approachable posture in the community ■ Monitor the development of the CDP to ensure that the best interests of the Hamakua region as a whole are incorporated HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Steering Committee reminders as we near the home stretch.. . Role is to: ■Reflect a broad cross section of the affected communities and provide for and listen to varying points of view Role is not to: ■Push a personal agenda ■Represent special interests HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Aloha Etiquette Maintain an open and positive attitude. Listen to understand. Everyone has a right to share and be comfortable with their own ideas. It's okay to disagree as long as it is done respectfully. If you need to argue, argue the issue and not against a person. One person speaks at a time with no side conversations. Limit distractions by turning cell phones off and not doing outside work during a meeting. In appreciation of everyone's time, please honor time limits. HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Planning Context: Pauka'a Mauka Parcels 3-2-7-038:004, 005, and portions of 002 & 003:023 State Land Use Agricultural District County Zoned Agricultural Zoning determines permitted uses Previous Option 2 Pauka`a Makai committee decision focused on protecting viewshed & coastal ag lands from development.
