North Kohala Community Access Group
November 2, 2016 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm)

Pololu Lookout
There will be a small informal meeting on the future of Pololu lookout with the neighbors &
landowners of this area.
Kohala Preserve (KP Holdings) has applied for a permit to reconsolidate & re-subdivide the
old mule station area.
Akoakoa Point
Leigh Leong is the new point person for this project.
Joe will set up a site visit for early next year.
Keokea (Nuilii)
Betsy Cole of Kohala Center is aware about the access easement situation.
There will be a meeting with Kohala Center soon to discuss this access issue.
Hapu’u – Kapanaia
Misty Kai gave permission to the police department to evict the squatters,
They were given 3 days to move out.
o They did move out but left lots of rubbish.
Jack will set up a cleanup day, Saturday (11/12/16)
Halelua
Vipassana is calling for an appraisal so they could sell to the County through PONC and other
funding.
Kauhola Point
GOE over old Halaula Mill Road.
We will write a letter to the planning department about the GOE.
Ainakea

Pahoa Beach
We need update from the county Planning Department.
Upolu Airport East
We need update from the county Planning Department.
Upolu Airport Restoration
Need to replace the posts for some signs.
Puakea Bay Ranch
Na Ala Hele advisory council last meeting was in Waimea on October 10.
Na Ala Hele did submit an appropriation proposal to the land division for trail
improvements but got denied.
o We should send a letter to the land division supporting this project and cc the
legislators.
o We should set up a meeting with landowners and government agencies to discuss the Pua
Kea bay trail.

There are 5 Kohala groups as well as Hawaiian Islands Land Trust working on public
purchase.

Need update from Planning Department.
The Environmental Assessment is still under review at PD.

Kohala Waterfront
Ala Kahakai recommends that no bridges be erected for the trail.
New Items
Rails to Trails report should be out soon.
After we get the report, we should bring it to the community to see what is the next steps
