Subcommittee work continues on a map of Kohala combining potential HELCO
transmission loop routes, viewplanes identiļ¬ed in various view studies, and lands
preserved for open space.
Viewplanes
The subcommittee is working with Parks Water and Roads, Growth Management, and
Community Access Group on a continuing discussion with residents near Pololu
Lookout concerning what types of improvements are preferable to enhance the
experience for visitors, including a better view of the valleys, while lessening the impact
on those who live nearby. The joint effort will lead to a broader community discussion of
recommendations for the future of the lookout and access, including public or
conservation purchase of the land between the lookout and Akoakoa Point.
