Communication No. 16-01, dated December 22, 2016, from Guy Schutte,
Chair, Police Commission, concerning equitable salary for County of
Hawai`i's Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief.
Communication No. 16-01.01, received on January 11, 2017, from
Sharon Toriano, Director, Department of Human Resources, transmitting a
table entitled, "Executive Salary Jurisdiction Comparisons."
Communication No. 16-01.02, received on January 11, 2016, from
Sharon Toriano, Director, Department of Human Resources, transmitting a
table entitled, "Collective Bargaining - Across-the-Board Increases During the
Contract Period" (July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2017).

A) Review of existing compensation plan to include consideration and
possible decision-making on proposals for adjustments to current
salaries of executives and elected officials.

Executive Session
The Salary Commission anticipates convening one or more executive meetings
regarding the above matters listed on the agenda, pursuant to HRS Sections
92-4 and 92-5(a)(4), for the purpose of consulting with the Board's attorney on
questions and issues pertaining to the Board's powers, duties, privileges,
immunities, and liabilities. A 2/3 vote pursuant to HRS Section 92-4 is
necessary to hold an executive meeting.
The meeting places are accessible to individuals with disabilities. If you need
an auxiliary aid or service, language interpretation, or other access
accommodation, please contact the Department of Human Resources at
961-8361 as soon as possible or at least five days prior to the meeting date of
January 20, 2017.
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (hereinafter
"HRS") §92-3.5, the Salary Commission will be conducting this meeting via
videoconference. If audio stream between Kona and Hilo is lost for more than a
short period of time, the meeting will be terminated. Commission Members will
be present at the following locations:
• Kona Council Office, West Hawaii Civic Center,
74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building A
(Pursuant to HRS, Sections 92-3.5 and 92-7 Salary Commission Member
George Handgis will be participating from the above location.)
• County Council Room, Hawaii County Building, 25 Aupuni Street, First
Floor, Room 1401
Public attendance via videoconference will be available at both of the above
locations.
