The County of Hawaii is pleased to provide this letter of support of the application by the Coalition
for Specialized Housing (CSH) to the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation (HHFDC)
for funding assistance through the Federal and State Low Income Housing Tax Credit programs, and
other state-sponsored finance programs for the development of the Waikoloa Affordable Family Rental
Housing Project (Waikoloa Project).
The proposed master -planned Waikoloa Project consists of 110 rental units in 18 rental
apartment buildings. The unit mix will include 39 one -bedroom units, 71 two-bedroom units, and a two-
bedroom manager's unit. The apartment units will be reserved for families that earn 60 percent and/or
less of the County's median income.
The proposed project will provide much-needed affordable rental housing opportunities for the
very low-income families in our community. The Waikoloa Project is conveniently located in Waikoloa
Village and in close proximity to a grocery store, shopping center, employment opportunities,
elementary and middle schools, and public transportation.
The County of Hawaii strongly supports the proposed Waikoloa Affordable Family Rental
Housing Project and respectfully requests your favorable consideration of CSH's application for
financial assistance.
