Re: 68th ANNUAL MAYOR'S MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
Thank you very much for your letter of February 7, 2017 requesting assistance and
support for the promotion and collection of flower lei from Hawai'i Island residents and
public school students for the 68th Mayor's Memorial Day Ceremony.
We support this most worthy initiative, and will draw up a Proclamation to urge our
citizens to recognize the supreme sacrifice offered by the servicemen and women laid
to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
We also will be contacting Ms. Jeanne Ishikawa, Deputy Director and Chair of the
May 29, 2017 commemoration, to offer our help and support.
