Dear Chairs Rhoads, Nishihara, and Members,
RE: HB 636 HD 1
Relating to Water Conservation
As the purpose clause of HB 636, HD1, makes clear, Hawaii needs to become as
efficient as possible in its uses of limited fresh water supplies. A water conservation
program that provides financial assistance to county -owned public water systems and
their customers to help implement water conservation would, almost certainly, be a
valuable tool.
Whether the Legislature can find money for such a program is obviously a
dilemma that only you can solve, but if funding can be provided, we hope that HB 636
will become law.
R specttully submitted,
Harry Kim
