As part of the festivities, the County of Hawai'i has scheduled a Commemorative Tree Planting Ceremony on May 9, 2017, at the Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo. The Department of Parks & Recreation and my office are handling arrangements for this event. A tent and chairs willindicate the site for the ceremony. A Black Pine will be planted andshovels will be on hand. This tree planting ceremony will perpetuate and foster our Hiroshima Sister State relationship. We are asking that Council Chair Poindexter participate in the tree planting ceremony along with Thomas Goya, President of the East Hawai'i Kenjin Kai.
