<br />NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING <br />KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a meeting to be held by the Kailua Village Design <br />Commission of the County of Hawai‘i in accordance with the provision of Section 92-7, <br />Hawai‘i Revised Statutes. <br />PLACE: West Hawai‘i Civic Center, <br />nd <br />Planning Department Conference Room –Building E, 2 Floor <br />74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, 96740 <br />DATE: November 21, 2017 <br />TIME: 5:15 PM <br />AGENDA <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Minutes of the Meeting of November 7, 2017 <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1. The applicant is proposing a new commercial center, the Niumalu Market Center, <br />located between Lanihau Center and Henry Street, makai of Queen Ka‘ahumanu <br />Highway, consisting of 185,650 gross leasable area within 14 buildings. <br />The anchor tenant and six (6) surrounding buildings are all one story in height with <br />some heights closer to two stories. These seven (7) buildings are all with flat roofs with <br />no surrounding mansard roofing or other feature to hide the flat roofs. The remaining <br />seven (7) buildings include two (2) two-story structures with the balance as one-story <br />structures. All of these seven (7) buildings include mansard roofing around all sides. <br />These structures are primarily offices with one location for a series of gasoline pumps. <br />The entire site includes 758 parking spaces. The mauka portion of the site is <br />approximately 20-25 feet lower than Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway and as the site <br />extends makai, it eventually drops in elevation below the existing elevation of Alahou <br />Street. The site is accessible from Henry Street (current inactive mauka traffic signal) <br />and from the road that currently extends beyond Alahou Street to Lanihau Center. <br />Landscaping Plan indicates significant planting around and within the proposed center. <br />Applicant: Sentinel Development <br />Landowner: PRII Westwood Lanihau Expansion LLC <br />TMK: (3) 7-5-004: 007 <br />Location: Street Address has not been assigned <br />Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br /> <br />
