Bernard, Executive Director Ms. Megan R. Lamson, M.S., Vice President Hawaii Wildlife Fund P.O. Box 70 Volcano, Hawai'i 96785 Dear Ms. Bernard and Ms. Lamson, RE: Hawai'i Wildlife Fund Mahalo Letter Thank you for your letter dated December 4, 2017. I would like to congratulate you on the many accomplishments the Hawai'i Wildlife Fund (HWF) has made in the preservation of Hawaii's native wildlife through research, education and conservation. More specifically, the County of Hawaii applauds the HWF's Maui Team actions in assuring that the endangered Hawksbill sea turtle hatchlings make their way safely to the ocean. This has certainly been an example of successful teamwork to save an endangered species from predators, excessive coastal lighting, entrapment in ocean debris and road crossing dangers. I also thank you for HWF's campaign to keep Hawai'i Island beaches as free as possible from marine debris. We realize this is an ongoing effort and applaud the removal of over 63,855 pounds of marine debris from the shores of Hawai'i Island. Finally, thank you for supporting Ke Kai Ola Marine Mammal Center located at NELHA. Ke Kai Ola is in full operation helping the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals as a hospital, response team outreach and education center. Best wishes for every success in 2018. Sincerely, arty Mayor County of Hawaii is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
