Simeon, as Director of the Department of Public Works for the County of Hawai'i, pursuant to Section 6-2.2 of the Hawai'i County Charter. This appointment is effective March 1, 2018. Mr. Simeon, a registered Professional Engineer, has over 25 years of experience as an engineer and program management professional. He has held the position of Acting Director since November 2017, upon the retirement of Frank DeMarco, and has worked his way up within the Department of Public Works since joining the County as a Civil Engineer III in August 1997. His resume is attached for your information. Mr. Simeon will serve a term co-terminus with my tenure, which will end on December 7, 2020. Pursuant to Rule 5(6)(g) of the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the Council of the County of Hawai'i, we respectfully request a waiver of this nomination through the Public Works Committee so that it may be considered by the full County Council on April 11, 2018.
