Dear Chair Luke and Committee Members:
Re: HCR 182 and HR 153 Urging the Iepartment of Land and Natural
Resources to Work with Local Hunters to Accommodate Traditional
and Customary Native Hawaiian Hunting Practices and Change its
Policies Based on the Concerns of Local Hunters
Although HCR 182 and HR 153 are being interpreted as focusing on the aerial
hunting of goats in Waianae, the Hawaii County Game Management Advisory
Commission unanimously requested that my office submit testimony in support. Since 1
strongly believe in accommodating traditional and customary rights of Native Hawaiians,
as set forth in our State Constitution, lam happy to do so.
1 realize that the deadline for hearing a concurrent resolution has long passed,
but if a hearing could be held on HR 1531 lam sure that the community would be
appreciative.
Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully sub ted,
Harry Kim
