Leaders of the County's <br /> Community Alliance Partners have a plan to pioneer a new concept for homeless <br /> assessment centers that might allow Hawai'i Island to obtain funds to create an <br /> assessment center. Attached is a recent newspaper article that you may find useful. <br /> This concept would appropriate units at an existing complex and repurpose them. <br /> This would be converted to emergency shelters for families. <br /> Assessment Centers are expected to be available for 24/7 assessments of all <br /> homeless individuals, whether part of a family or not. We've discovered that the <br /> problem just gets moved around if we don't have a place to send the homeless, this is <br /> why we are working on Assessment Centers. <br /> Good luck with your education at L.E.
