HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM. 056 Reimer, M - Term Limits October 6, 2009 Aloha Charter Commission Chair Haitsuka: If the term limit of the County Council is to change from 2 years to 4 years, I beleive there should be a condition added to this change in the Charter. There should be the definition included that the position of County Council Representative that this is considered a full time position, subject to the same rules regarding sick and vacation time, holiday time, time without pay and AWOL as is nominal to all full time County employees, but not subject to overtime compensation in either salary or compensatory time. The rational is clear. The business and responsibilities of the County Government have grown since the inception of statehood and require full attention to matters at hand to effectively run the County legislative process. I believe the suggested change in term limits that recognizes that full time attention is needed. Quite naturally there will be formidable resistance stating the present salary is not consistent with a full time position but that is for the Salary Commission to consider.
