Subject: Four Year Council terms
Hi Ed,
I am sorry that I wasn't able to get back from Oahu in time for our last Charter
Commission meeting. I wish I could have come back earlier because I was very surprised
that the amendment for four year council terms failed. Considering that there hadn't been
any concerns previously voiced by Commission members, I wasn't expecting such a
contested vote. I spoke with Levi and he said that under Robert's Rules of Order it is
possible to ask for a reconsideration vote on the matter and ask that the four-year term
amendment be placed on the agenda with it. I would like to formally request that a
reconsideration of the vote be put on the agenda for the December 18th meeting. Then the
amendment would also need to be on the agenda so we can vote on it again if there is a
successful motion to reconsider.
Thank you for doing that and let me know if you have any questions.
Aloha,
Todd Shumway
