HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM. 158 Paikuli, T -Campbell Ohana - Land FundJanuary 20,1010
The 2%Land Fund needs to stay just as the citizens of Hawaii County voted.
I am a homeowner here in Kailua Kona and want 2%of my property taxes set aside for property
aquisition for purposes of public recreation and education, including access to beaches and
mountains;properties that preserve historic or culturally important land areas and sites;lands that
protect our natural resources, including buffer zones and watershed lands to preserve water
quality and water supply;and land to preserve forests, beaches, coastal areas, natural beauty and
agricultural lands.
These funds need to be set aside and available so that when matching funds are available, the
County of Hawaii can take the appropriate actions. Also,at a time when land is cheaper, the
County of Hawaii needs to take advantage and protect these lands for the benefit of the
community at large, this includes, native hawaiians as well as the tourists visiting our islands.
Mayor Kenoi and the rest of the County of Hawaii PUBLIC officials need to follow the citizens lead.
The County of Hawaii needs to take action now,by keeping the 2%Land Fund and purchasing lands
now.More better these lands are in the hands of the public for future use rather than be
developed with yet another golf course and high end housing development.
Mahalo for your time,
Tyler,Nani,Kulani,Kawaihua and Aukele Paikuli Campbell
