RE:Land Fund
Dear Charter Commission Members,
Just so you do not have to speculate,I would vote for a charter amendment to sustain
the 2 percent land fund.
Keep in mind,on a percentage basis,when tax revenues are up,the fund benefits;when
they are down,the fund suffers.Right now they are down and saving or redirecting the
funds is significantly less than the $8 million claimed to be used to balance the budget.
As it turns out for this fiscal year,millions have been identified in special reserved
accounts that could be used to balance the budget.Don't get caught in the negative
administration spin.The people want this fund;it is not the cause of teacher furloughs.
