RE: REPLACEMENT LEGAL COUNSEL
As you know, the Charter Commission's attorney, Levi Hookano, is on military leave and
his absence will exceed the remaining term of the Charter Commission. I spoke to Mr.
Hookano before he left and he indicated that Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida has
volunteered to serve as the Charter Commission's attorney for the remainder of the term.
I have confirmed this with Mr. Ashida and we will need to take a vote at our next
meeting on whether to confirm Mr. Ashida's appointment as the Charter Commission's
attorney for the remainder of the term.
