HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGE CHC 1989-06-15 CHARTER COMMISSION The Hawaii County Charter Commission will hold public hearings on the Hawaii County Charter in each district of the" island. The dates, times, and places of the public hearing are listed below. The public is invited to testify at these hearings. The Charter Commission's duty is to review the County Charter, and, if appropriate, to propose changes to the Charter, or a new Charter, which will then be voted upon by the electorate. • The County Charter sets forth the basic structure of County government. Among the issues which have been raised for the Charter Commission's consideration are the method of election of the County ,Council, the functions of the Mayor and the County Council, and the powers of County boards and commissions. The Charter Commission will welcome public testimony on these issues and on any other aspects of County government. The Charter Commission encourages those wishing to present testimony to submit written testimony in advance, however, this is not a requirement.
