APPROVE MINUTES OF 02/21/90: <br /> Motion No. 1: Upon motion made by Mr. L'Orange and <br /> seconded by Ms. Poppe, approval of the minutes was <br /> deferred until next meeting to enable members to review <br /> same. All were in favor (Tape 1: 1:42) . Motion carried. <br /> IV. PUBLIC TESTIMONY: Larry Boot , secretary of the Salary <br /> Commission. Requested Charter Commission to reconsider <br /> its proposal to have the Salary Commission fix the <br /> salaries of elected officials (Exhibit A) . Suggests the <br /> mayor appoint the Salary Commission and the Council <br /> confirm members to lessen the political influence in <br /> salary fixing. <br /> Chairman Bethea closed public testimony. <br /> V. AGENDA ITEM 5: Setting of electees ' salaries. David Luke <br /> of Civil Service: Supports the position of the Salary <br /> Commission, because salary setting would be the responsi- <br /> bility of an independent body. <br /> 821 <br />
