Mr. Rudy Legaspi
County Clerk
County of Hawaii
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Dear Mr. Legaspi:
We had initially written to you regarding the postponement of the
charter election scheduled for November 3, 1979, After re-evaluating
the ramifications involved with postponing the charter election, we
have determined it would be far more detrimental to postpone it .
It is our position that the charter commission had done an out-
standing job of reviewing the charter. The proposed amendments are
all amendments that would improve our present charter .
We are asking the charter commission to go ahead with the planned
election of November 3rd. We will also urge all of our members in
our Union to vote in this very important election.
We would also like to urge the public to turn out and vote as the
charter commission members, themselves, had sacrificed countless
hours of their own time to review the present County Charter.
By voting on November 3rd, besides exercising your rights as a
citizen, you are also expressing your appreciation to the charter
commission for a job well done .
Our Union appreciates your consideration of our request to proceed
with the scheduled election.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Jack Konno
