Dear Dr. Wang:
I'm writing to humbly thank you and accept your most generous offer of 35
prefabricated homes to be used as temporary housing for the people of Puna displaced
by the ongoing Kilauea eruption.
As you are surely aware, the eruption continues to destroy homes in the Lower
East Rift Zone. We in Hawai'i County are still responding to this disaster, while working
to help the displaced residents find transitional and more permanent homes.
We are truly touched by your deep compassion for our people in our hour of
need. Our understanding is that you plan to ship the first two prefabricated modular
units within a month, with the remaining 33 units later.
On behalf of the people of the County of Hawai'i, thank you most sincerely for
lending this very meaningful helping hand. I hope to meet you sometime in the future to
thank you in person.
