RE:Helicopter Tour Operators – Update on Progress of Concerns
Meeting: August 10, 2018 @ 11:00 a.m.
It has been several months since you and your colleagues in the helicopter tour
industry met with me to discuss the ongoing issue of helicopter noise on Hawai‘i island.
It has also been several months since your new PlaneNoisecomplaint system has been
operational. While I commend you for the steps you’ve taken, I continue to receive
complaints about noise andI would like to meet with you all once again to find a
solution.
I am therefore calling a meeting with all helicopter tour operators to discuss the
progress you have made in addressing our residents’ concerns, and to learn how the
industry plans to reduce the noise over Hawai‘i Island homes, businesses, and open
spaces.
The meeting will be held on August 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in my Hilo office.
