Members Present: (Vice Chair) Joshua Pratt, Laura Tobosa, Sabine (Sam) Nagasawa, Linda Gonzales Members Excused: Pam Punihaole, Norita De Lima, Members Absent: None Guests Present: Sarah Cruz County Staff Present: Malia Hall, Deputy Corporation Council, Sandra Goodale, Housing and Community Development Specialist Topic/Agenda Discussion Action Item Review/Approve Members reviewed the June 20th meeting Committee Member Nagasawa Minutes minutes. made a motion to approve the minutes. Committee Member Tobosa seconded the motion. All were in favor. Public There were no public testimony on Agenda items. Testimony on Agenda Items New Business b. Presentation of the County of Hawaii American Job Center and Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act. Ms. Sandra Goodale did a powerpoint Tage 1 of 2 Hawai 'i County is an equal opportunity provider and employer. An Area Agency on Aging presentation on the new County of Hawaii American Job Center (formerly called the One - Stop -Shop) Job on Employer Services and Job Seeker Services. Handouts were distributed. c. Report of the County of Hawaii Office of Aging Director Kimo Alameda Chair Shirachi read Director Kimo Alameda's report. d. Report of Emergency Efforts to assist to Persons with Disabilities impacted by the lava flow. Chair Shirachi provided a slide show presentation to the Committee. Handouts were distributed. e. Sub -Committee Reports and Discussion on Sub -Committee Reporting process. 1. Communication Committee member Punihaole was not available to report. 2. Homeless Housing Chair Shirachi will be meeting with Janice Ikeda from HOPE Services and will report back later. 3.. Parking Enforcement Committee member Tobosa had nothing to report 4. Transportation Vice Chair Pratt and Committee member Tobosa had nothing to report 5. Parks and Recreation Committee Member Gonzales had nothing to report L Election of Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities Secretary. Vice Chair Pratt wanted to nominate Committee member De Lima as Secretary. Chair Shirachi said that De Lima did accept the nomination Mr. Pratt made a motion to nominate Norita as Secretary. All were in favor. Old Business a. Letter to the Mayor regarding Share Ride Program The Committee discussed that the possibilities that the cab companies on the West side of the Island desire not to participate in the Shared Ride Taxi Program because they make enough money. b. By -Laws Revision- Discussion for Recommendations Ms. Hall went over suggested amendments to the By -Laws. Discussion Chair Shirachi suggested to have someone from Regarding both the Planning and Public Works department Future Agenda attend the Committee on People with Disabilities Items meeting. She believes they both have a greater impact on people with disabilities because of the broader scope of public obligations. Announcements Chair Shirachi made 2 announcements for both the West Hawaii and East Hawaii Disability Legislative Forums. Ms. Shirachi informed the Committee that she will attend the East side event. Vox Populi Chair Shirachi said that she received the report (Voice of the from Julie Rawlings after the agenda was created. People) Therefore, Ms. Rawlings' report will be placed on the next month's agenda. Next Meeting The next meeting will be at the Hawaii County Office of Aging on August 15, 2018.
