FEMA Region IX, Recovery Division — Individual Assistance
1111 Broadway, Suite 1200
Oakland, CA 94607-4052
Dear Mr. Ceja:
Pursuant to the meeting of July 11, 2018 on Individual Assistance Letters attached are two Excel
lists which represent:
1) Properties which are considered to be inaccessible due to health and safety concerns,
which includes the destroyed properties with updated names of all owners as well as
the property addresses; and
2) Properties which are confirmed to be destroyed (which may have outdated owner
names).
It is our understanding that these lists will be utilized instead of the "updated letter" requirement
by FEMA in order to continue to provide assistance. In addition, for those applicants who were
considered to be ineligible due to prior letters that are located within this area, those individuals
may reapply and ask for an inspection in order to be reconsidered.
The last area which is not addressed on these lists, but of concern, is the area outside of the
attached lists which have access, however, due to health concerns may not be livable. As
discussed at the meeting on July 11, 2018 the County of Hawaii will work with the State of
Hawaii Department of Health and Environmental Protection Agency to provide historical data
of the air quality in order to qualify additional properties/areas for FEMA assistance.
Sincerely,
Ha m
.
Mayor
