Statement by Hawai‘i Electric Light Company following Mandatory Evacuation
Order Lifted in Leilani Estates
To prepare for power restoration in Leilani Estates, Hawai‘i Electric Light crews have
been working to remove damaged equipment, conduct damage assessments, and
make necessary repairs.
Hawai‘i Electric Light is committed to restoring power as quickly and as safely as
possible.
Work will be done in phases. The areas with minimal damage will be restored first.
Depending on the extent of the damage, some homes could have power within days of
returning home, while others will take longer.
We ask for the public’s support with this effort. For safety reasons, please do not
approach areas where electrical work is being performed. This is for your safety and it
allows crews to complete their work as quickly and as safely as possible.
