Dear Mayor Inoue:
Thank you very much for your letter of August 28, 2018, and the omiyage
presented to me by Mr. Toshiyuki Motoyoshi, the manager of Miyako Town's Tourism
Office.
Mr. Motoyoshi and his group of middle school students from Miyako Town visited
me during their recent student exchange, and it was very enjoyable for us at the
Mayor's Office to see them.
We in the County of Hawai'i are pleased to welcome exchange students from
Miyako Town, and hope this friendly relationship continues far into the future.
We were sorry that the Miyako exchange group's trip coincided with the biggest
hurricane to arrive on our Island in decades. I am afraid the students spent most of
their time indoors, because we had four straight days of very heavy rain right in the
middle of their visit.
We look forward to the next opportunity to see your exchange students again,
and hope the weather is better for them next time.
