CALL TO ORDER
Chair Brooke Derby called meeting to order at 10:42 am. Quorum has been
met.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES (December 28, 2017)
Farrah move to approve the Minutes with the edits and was discussed,
seconded by Mele.
IV. TREASURER'S REPORT
Jewel Reported no expenditures for December and will have
December Financials at the next meeting
Hawai'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer

VII. REPORTS
Cyd - State CSW — No Formal meeting as of yet.
Saturday 1/13/2018 — 5 candidates interviewed, selection for postion
by February 2018.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Teen Dating Violence —
• Update on cell phone safety cards — Jewel reported rational/Mete
did Expenditure Request.
• Changes to card — double hearts and BFF to Partner. Change
telephone from (808) 934-3369 to (808) 961-0466. Font to be at 10
pt.
Action Item from Agenda — The Following

• Approval of Project Plan
B. Real Women Essay Contest — Lee Ann
• Update on Status —
1 . Received a lot of essays, most came from the East side of
the Island only, none from any West side schools? Why no
participation?
2. Principle is the resource to to the teacher. Suggestion to get
to English Department Heads with the Information regarding
the essay.
3. Suggestion from Brooke, Invite West Side Teachers to the
Luncheon. Question? Where will the funds come from to pay
for the Luncheon? CSW pay'/2 and they pay 1/2 ?
4. Luncheon to be on the East side of the island.
Venue/Menu/Platform. Lisa will put out to bid.
5. How many people is needed to Jude Essay? UH Student
Support to help with development of pamphlet. The entire
committee has volunteered to be readers of the essay.
6. Kammi Bolsters is wanting to volunteer to be a reader of the
essays

D. CSW Brochure -Farrah
• No update at this time.

• Update on distribution
Farrah — Kui Kau Tarainig 1/11&1/12 Hilo -40 / Kona -30
West HI Health Centers 5 Locations — 50 Each=250
• Tracking Document — Alan has it and is updating as distributing
G. Human Trafficking — No Update
• Update on Discussions —
Mcle is working on finding someone to speak to a reporter to
write the article. Committee will meet on 1/22/2018 @9:00
am via phone.
H. Equal Pay
• Update on Status —Project plan will be ready at next meeting.
Action Item : Add approval of project plan to next Month's Agenda. Get
information from Cyd.
CSW Membership Nominations
• Motion was made by Jewel to send a letter to the Mayor's office to
support an Additional term for Mele, Farrah, & Brooke to continue
being on the Committee on the Status of women, Debra seconded.
Brooke will be sending out a letter to the Mayor's Office.
• Kami Bolster —Application is missing as it was turned in to the
Mayor's Office on 1/03/2018. Brooke will follow up with Lisa
II. ANNOUNCEMENTS (relating to CSW)
• Next CSW Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at
10am at NHERC.
III. ADJOURNMENT
• Meeting motioned by Jewel and seconded by Mele. Meeting was
adjourned at 11:34 am.
