Hwy. 11 Resurfacing Work In Kainaliu Postponed Until After Ironman
Triathlon
The County Highway Maintenance Division’s resurfacing work on the Māmalahoa Highway (Hwy.11)
between Teshima’s Restaurant and Sandy’s Drive Inn has been postponed to a future date, after the October 13
Ironman Triathlon.
The resurfacing was originally planned to be done from Tuesday, October 2, 2018 to Monday, October 10,
2018. Work will be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., weather and construction
conditions permitting.
When the work commences, motorists are advised to expect delays and encouraged to use the Ali‘i Drive
Extension (Māmalahoa Bypass) as an alternate route. Alternating lane closures will be in effect and work will
be done on one lane at a time. Travel in both directions will be provided.
The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and
thanks the community for their patience and understanding.
If there are any questions or concerns, please call the County of Hawai‘i Highway Maintenance Division at
