Thank you very much for sending me the Summer 2018 edition of your
publication, "We are Tomodachi."
I very much appreciate the abiding spirit behind the words "We are Tomodachi,"
("We are Friends"). That is a message of peace that I wholeheartedly share.
As you may know, Hawaii County has a growing number of Sister City
relationships, most numerous among them with Japanese Sister Cities. These
friendships have endured and flourished for decades, and we cherish these ties that we
believe will continue forever.
We also maintain a warm relationship with the Japanese Consul-General, based
in Honolulu and enjoy welcoming him to our Island whenever he visits.
Once again, thank you for having the Mayor's Office of Hawaii County on your
