Dear Mr. Cawthon,
RE: La'aloa Beach Park
Representatives from the Department of Parks and Recreation (P&R) and I met
to discuss this park on July 9, 2018. P&R presented me with landscape designs
prepared by Okahara and Associates, Inc. (parking area modifications and landscape
improvements). The overall landscape design concept is focusing around the
recommendations that were presented in the "Historic Properties Preservation Plan for
Laaloa Beach Park Expansion" report of 2006.
Once the final plans have been completed, there will be a community meeting
with the community stakeholders to present the plan to them, get feedback, and ensure
open communication throughout the process. Please note that there has been a delay
in this process due to the recent hurricanes and inclement weather that impacted the
islands.
