Dear Reverend Chikai:
I'm writing to thank you for your church's generous donation of $2,000 for the relief of
the residents affected by the Lower East Rift Zone eruption in Puna.
Your kindness and compassion shone through your face throughout your visit to my
office this week. It was a true expression of peace and harmony that I wish could be
mirrored all over the world.
I also want to thank you for the splendid Boy Scouts of Japan plaque that I will proudly
display in the Mayor's Office lobby. Please be sure to visit me again when you bring
your Scout troop to camp here on Hawai'i Island.
Once again, thank you most wholeheartedly for your gracious gesture of solidarity with
the people of our Island. It means so much to me.
