From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:
misskohala@aol.com
Tuesda October 23, 2018 11:18 PM
Charter Commission: -
Leave the 2% Land Fund alone
Aloha Mayor, Commissioners & Council Members,
LEAVE THE 2% LAND FUND ALONE! 3 times we voters voted by 63% for the Land Fund.
There are still many properties that need to be "Protected"! There has only been 12 properties?
out of possible 166 properties proposed by Citizens of Hawaii Island that has been acquired?
This is the will of the people.lt should be honored.
Ordinance reads? " THESE LANDS PURCHASED WITH OUR PROPERTY TAX MONEY
BE HELD FOREVER FOR THE USE AND ENJOYMENT FOR THE CITIZENS OF HAWAII COUNTY"?
There is approx. $19 million in the fund, why is it not being used for its intended purpose?
However, our property taxes keep getting raised?
Why is the County stockpiling this money & not using it as intended? Shouldn't some of this
money be used for maintenance of these acquired lands? Why should this money be used for
maintenance of County Parks? This is not what it was intended for? Maybe County needs to do
some quality control?
Mahalo
1
Comm. No. 3.1.13
