Re: Powers and Duties of the Veterans Advisory Committee
Dear Mr. Doolittle,
I am in receipt of your letter received on June 271h, requesting support to expand the
stated purpose and duties of the Veterans Advisory Committee (VAC). As stated in
your letter, the VAC is tasked with advising the county on matters strictly pertaining to
veteran cemeteries. In light of the many challenges faced by our veterans today
(homelessness, health care, unemployment, etc.), your request is well taken.
Pursuant to Hawai'i County Code section 15-64, I ask that the VAC expand the scope of
its current power and duties to include discussions of and make recommendations on
other veteran -related issues and concerns for the benefit of all veterans residing in our
communities. I look forward to your recommendations and report.
Thank you for time and commitment to serving on the Veterans Advisory Committee.
Sincerely,
Harry Kim
