Nishimoto Wil Okabe Deputy Director Managing Director County of Hawai‘i DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Aupuni Center 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 7 · Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720-4224 (808) 961-8321 · Fax (808) 961-8630 public_works@hawaiicounty.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE AT VARIOUS WEST HAWAII THND LOCATIONS FROM OCT. 29 TO NOV. 2 Oct 25, 2018 – The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works Traffic Division will be conducting maintenance work on traffic signals along various locations in South Kohala and North Kona. On Monday, October 29, 2018, work will be done on the Ho‘okō St. and Paniolo Ave. intersection; and on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Hwy. intersection with Waikoloa Rd. and Waikoloa Beach Rd. Work is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. From Tuesday, October 30, 2018 to Friday, November 2, 2018, work will be done on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Hwy. intersections at Makala Blvd., Palani Rd., Henry St., Malulani Rd., Nani Kailua Dr., and Puapuaanui St.; and then proceeding to Kuakini Hwy. intersections at Lako St., Sea View Cir., La’aloa Ave, and Kamehameha III Rd; and the Māmalahoa Hwy. (190) intersection with Hina Lani St. Work is scheduled is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The signals will be tested for functionality and will be flashing all red for up to 10 minutes and the crew will be at each intersection for no longer that 2 hours. Motorists are advised to expect delays and that intersections with signals flashing all red should be treated as an all-way stop. Traffic control personnel will be in the work area to facilitate traffic movement. The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.
