Dear Mr. Dawrs:
I'm writing to say how sorry I am at the news of your dear Uncle John's passing.
It was very loving and compassionate of you to try to arrange a phone call
between John and me, regarding his concerns about Hawaiian monk seals. I know how
much you cared for him, and I am very sorry the telephone call never came to pass.
John Dawrs served the Hawai'i County Police and the Kona community faithfully
and with great devotion to duty. He was a genuinely nice man, and it was an honor to
know him.
Please accept my sincerest condolences as you grieve the loss of your Uncle
John. Thank you for having taken the time to contact me in his precious last days.
