Employees on 4-10 work schedules are to be granted one (1) work day of administrative leave and 24 hour Fire personnel are to be granted one (1) work shift. Administrative leave for part-time employees shall be granted on a pro-rated basis contingent on their full-time equivalency. 2) Employees may take four (4) hours of administrative leave on both December 24th and December 31St. Should operations permit, employees may elect to take eight (8) hours of administrative leave all on one day, either December 24th or December 31St. For 24 hour Fire personnel, administrative leave may be taken for one work shift. 3) Notwithstanding the granting of the administrative leave, please ensure that offices providing services to the public remain open all day on December 24th and December 31St. Minimum staffing of these offices is permitted. 4) Employees who must work and cannot be granted administrative leave on either of the days shall not be entitled to overtime, but shall be given equivalent County of Hawaii is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. Department and Agency Heads Page 2 November 30, 2018 administrative time off within a reasonable period thereafter as approved by their department head. Department heads shall ensure arrangements are made to provide administrative time off that is fair to employees. 5) Employees whose regular days off fall on December 24th and/or December 31St will be permitted to take the appropriate number of hours of administrative time off within a reasonable period thereafter as approved by their department head. 6) In order to assist with administrative record keeping, all administrative leave hours granted pursuant to this memorandum, shall be scheduled and taken by March 31, 2019. 7) Employees who are on paid leave on December 24th and/or December 31St shall be charged only for those hours in excess of the administrative leave hours. 8) Employees who must start their vacation leave before the end of the calendar year in order to avoid forfeiting vacation leave are permitted to take the administrative time off at a later date as approved by their department head. 9) Employees on leave of absence without pay, hourly contractual employees and students shall not be entitled to this administrative leave. Please notify your respective employees of the above and that I appreciate all of the hard work they do for our community.
