Dear Ms. Deena,
The Office of the Mayor and the staff of the West Hawaii Civic Center would like to
invite interested West HawaiiGrade 10, sophomores
Day.
Government, and significantly county government, is one of the largest employers on
Hawaii Island, and we believe a career with the county is one that is both satisfying and
honorable. As such, our goal will be to promote career awareness in government employment.
We will do this by first presenting an orientation of the facility in a large group setting,
and then touring various departments in smaller groups so students can gather information
about qualifications, educational requirements and experience necessary for a career in
government.
Our plan is to do a follow-up activity in the near future with interested students and staff
mentor related to career shadowing.
Government Career Day will be held from 9:00am to Noon on Friday, February 15, 2019
and will begin in Building A. Refreshments including a light lunch will be provided. Please reply
by December 13, 2018 so we may prepare for a successful day. Space is limited.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please contact Barbara Kossow at 323-4448 or
Barbara.kossow@hawaiicounty.gov to RSVP or for more information.
Mahalo,
Harry Kim
Mayor
