NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a meeting to be held by the Kailua Village Design
Commission of the County of Hawai‘i in accordance with the provision of Section 92-7,
Hawai‘i Revised Statutes.

Minutes of the Meeting of November 27, 2018
STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS
NEW BUSINESS
1. The applicant, Linda Schatz, is proposing a master signage plan for Niumalu
MarketPlace, which includes sign variance for a number of the proposed signs in the
master plan. This would allow future tenants to submit for new signs permits, as long
as the proposed sign matches the size and color approved by the master sign plan
without having to continually submit for Kailua Village Design Commission review.
The proposal includes:
Four (4) Ground signs – Variance Proposed for Each
a. Niumalu ID/Tenant Directory – located at the corner of Queen Ka‘ahumanu
and Henry Street
b. 2-Sided ID/Directory – located at the corner of proposed Road “A” and Henry

Street – 2 ground sign
c. Gas Station Price Sign, 2-Sided – located along Henry Street in front of the

Gas Station - 3 ground sign
d. 2-Sided ID/Directory – located at the corner of proposed Road “B” and Henry

Street – 4 ground sign.
Anchor Building #4 – Variance Proposed for Each
a. Safeway Tower ID Sign
b. Bank, Pharmacy, Safeway (Main Store sign) & Starbucks
Gas Station signage – 2 signs - Safeway C-Store ID & Safeway Gas Canopy ID –
Variance Proposed for Each
Typical Tenant Wall ID Signs – up to 2 signs per business designed to be
compliant to KVDC sign requirements
