Members Present: Susan Shirachi, Sabine (Sam) Nagasawa, Linda Gonzales, Byron Yogi, Penny Alcoran, Laina Torres, Patricia Walters, Pamela Punihaole Members Excused: Heather Dansdill, Laura Tobosa Members Absent: None Guests Present: Brenda Carreira County Staff Present: Malia Hall Topic/Agenda Discussion Action Item Chair Susan Shirachi asked for a roll call The Committee members acknowledged their presence. Review/Approve November 14"' meeting minutes not available for Committee Secretary, Laina Minutes review/approval. Torres meeting with Committee Member, Kalen Koga regarding minutes process. New Business a. A friendly reminder -Our mutual a. Brenda Carreira started on Transit Agency Share Ride and Para -Transit Nov ls`. Hele On provides their (Kona District) — Brenda Carreira, County of own drivers but Para -Transit Hawaii Mass Transit Administrator contracts out the vehicles. Limited to four (4) vehicles at this time. There is an application process including an in person assessment. Applicants are eligible three ways: 1. Unable to get to a bus stop 2. Unable to board the bus 3. Unable to recognize routes. There is a twenty for (24) hour advance notice for assistance. This program relies on HCEOC vans that Mass Transit contracts out. Reservation line available hours is 7:45am-4:30pm for service. A $4.00 per way fee is collected and the caretaker rides free. Routes are limited to one (1) mile perimeter of routes. Puna district routes are not available in an emergency. Only fixed routes are available for now. In time of an emergency Mass Transit reports to Civil Defense. Revisit is six (6) months. c. Joint Presentation on Emergency c. Training is available for the Preparedness for Persons with Disabilities- community to take. A trained Talmadge Magno, County of Hawaii Civil team is available to rescue/help Defense Administrator. people with disabilities in case of an emergency. There are 26 emergency response teams available. Classes are available around the island. Volunteers interested in attending training need to attend three (3) weekend sessions. Hawaii Fire Department does the training. There is currently fifteen (15) trainers ready. This is a federally funded program. Roxanne Dehus reports, "Feeling Safe, Being Safe" has home training available for emergencies. The training is three (3) hours long. Call and voicemail was made to Roxy for update by Committee Chair, Susan Shirachi. c. Nomination and Election for Chair position c. Dr Patricia Walters nominated herself for Chair. Susan Shirachi motioned Dr Walters as a single applicant. Committee voted: majority. Discussion Regarding Future Agenda Items Announcements Committee Member, Penny Alcoran will attend the Na Pua Art Festival at the Lanihau Shopping Center from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
