Subject: Testimony for FR 1/25/29 1:30pm Hearing
Please accept my comments for the Friday 1/25 1:30 pm Hearing, as I am unable to attend.
Regarding the 2% LAND FUND PROGRAM (LFP)
I oppose CA -13. Which authorizes the Mayor to take the funds for an emergency and not pay
back for 5 years. There is already a Disaster Relief Fund that has not been fully funded. It should
be, but not by taking the 2% LFP money to balance the budget. The 2% LFP has been stockpiled
and not used for its INTENDED purpose. As of 12.31.2018 there was $19,667,000 in the 2% Land
Fund and $2.8 million in the Maintenance Fund.
I love our Mayor, but I do not support CA -13. I believe that there are many others who oppose
CA -13, but are simply unaware of this proposal.
I SUPPORT CA -9 A STAFF PERSON TO WORK ONLY ON THE 2% LAND FUND SHOULD PROGRAM
BE HIRED.
I OPPOSE CA -7 It:
* GUTS THE LPF FUND to .75%,
* Deletes that the land be preserved forever for the use and enjoyment of the people of
Hawaii County and
* Moves the Maintenance fund to the Code where it will be axed at budget times.
Respectfully,
Aloha, Peace, Love, & Music
